1 unit of electricity is equal to how many watts?
Short answer: 1 unit of electricity = 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) = 1,000 watts used for 1 hour. So a 1,000 W appliance uses 1 unit per hour, a 100 W appliance uses 0.1 unit per hour (10 hours for 1 unit), and a 2,000 W geyser uses 2 units per hour. Units = watts × hours ÷ 1,000.

What is the price of 1 unit of electricity?
Short answer: 1 unit (1 kWh) costs whatever your tariff charges per kWh. In India most states charge roughly ₹3–9 per unit for homes, rising with consumption; in the U.S. the average residential price was 18.31¢ per kWh in July 2026 (EIA). In Hindi terms, 1 unit kitna hota hai: 1 unit = 1,000 watt ka appliance 1 ghante chalane par jitni bijli lagti hai.
