How many units does a 1 kW solar system generate per day?
Short answer: In most of India a 1 kW rooftop solar system generates about 3.5–4.5 units a day, roughly 120 units a month or 1,300–1,500 units a year. A 3 kW system therefore produces about 360 units a month. Output depends on sunshine: about 850–1,000 kWh per kW per year in the UK and Germany, 1,200–1,600 in most of the US and 1,600–1,800 in the UAE.
| Location | kWh per kW per year | Units per kW per day |
|---|---|---|
| India (most states) | 1,300–1,500 | 3.5–4.5 |
| UAE / Saudi Arabia | 1,600–1,800 | 4.4–4.9 |
| USA (average) | 1,200–1,600 | 3.3–4.4 |
| Australia | 1,300–1,600 | 3.6–4.4 |
| UK / Germany | 850–1,000 | 2.3–2.7 |
Tip: In India, PM Surya Ghar gives up to ₹30,000/kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW (maximum ₹78,000) for residential rooftop solar.
