How much electricity does a BLDC fan save?
Short answer: A BLDC fan saves about 45 watts compared with a 75 W ordinary fan. At 12 hours a day that is about 16 kWh per fan per month, roughly ₹130 a month at ₹8/kWh in India, or about $2.98 a month at the US average of 18.3¢/kWh, so a 2,500–3,500 BLDC fan usually pays back in 1.5–2.5 years.
| Daily use | kWh saved/month | Saving (₹8/kWh · US 18.3¢/kWh) | Payback on ₹3,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 hours | 8.1 | ₹65 / $1.49 | ~3.8 years |
| 12 hours | 16.2 | ₹130 / $2.98 | ~1.9 years |
| 18 hours | 24.3 | ₹194 / $4.44 | ~1.3 years |
Tip: Replace the fans that run the most hours first; rarely used fans have slow payback.
